EMTONE
UIUX / Brand DesignIndependent Project
Emtone is an innovative audio recording app, designed to empower users to understand and analyze their tone and emotions during conversations, presentations, etc. By mapping the tone, users can gain valuable insights on their communication style, helping them improve relationships, enhance public speaking skills, and foster self-awareness.

TONE MAPPING
Based on a study conducted by Alan Cowen, an interactive audio map was created to filter through a collection of 2,032 emotional vocal bursts that were produced in labs. With the same analysis techniques, Emtone identifies and sorts the different tones into categories such as amusement, embarrassment, confusion, anger, and more.
3D AUDIO VISUALIZER
Unlike most recording apps, Emtone uses a unique visualizer for the users’ audio named Elli — an organic sphere that shapeshifts its form to the tone and frequency of the speaker’s voice. Elli also changes color based on the emotion that is detected from the audio input.
AUDIO TRANSCRIPTIONS
Users have the option to transcribe their speech while they record, making it accessible to individuals with hearing impairments or those who prefer reading. These transcriptions can be repurposed into various forms, such as blog posts, articles, interviews, or class notes.
