DEPTHS OF LOVE

Thesis Project

Love is fluid, complex, and adaptable. It can take many forms and flow in various directions. Depths of Love is a collection of five visual albums, each describing a different feeling of love. The albums are inspired by C.S. Lewis’ book called The Four Loves which explores the nature of love from a Christian and philosophical perspective. Four of the albums take direct inspiration from Lewis’ work: Eros, Storge, Philia, and Agape, which means romantic love, instinctive affection, friend bond, and unconditional God’s love. The fifth album, Carnal, is my own addition to the set as a juxtaposition to the existing perspectives. The photography in these albums do not define what love is, but rather suggest how love can make one feel. They act as a guide for people to imagine and feel the things that may not be easily seen internally.
